Compost bin [free]: gather 3-5 palets being discarded. Fasten them together with screws or nails to form a square "M" [ | | | ] shape ... makes 1 to 3 bins. Put it in an out-of-the-way place and walla you have compost bin[s] ... add kitchen veggie scraps, plant clippings, leaves and grass. If you don't want the hassle of having to turn the pile ... insert a length of pvc w/holes in the middle of the compost pile to aerate. Recycly / Recycle / Recycle

Sifter: A compost or soil sifter can be made from 1x1" or 1x2" boards [measured to fit over your plastic tub] secured at corners w/ 1/2" mesh screen stapled to all sides. Place it over a big plastic tub [w/wheels is best]. Also good for sifting dirt out of sod when making a new garden bed.

Litter Patrol Gear we Recommend : muck shoes [waterproof if you like dry feet]; square trash can on wheels [better balance], a pik stik saves your back; a bucket for short excursions; long elastic band keeps trash bag in place and jeans offer protection from scratches. sand spurs and bug bites]. Also good for gardening.

Gardener's tool belt : use an old carpenter's belt or fanny pack, tuck your gloves inside, hang a clipper holster and/or knife sheath on the side and "Garden As U Go"
 
   
   
Some of the handiest tools we've found for making gardening less labor intensive ... for those of us with weak wrists, hands, bad knees or back need all the help we can get. We're not necessarily recommending the brands shown ... they're just samples. Power tools shown do cost more but ease of use make the purchase well worth it . Sharpening tools regularly will also reduce effort needed to complete the task.
