Town Center Project & Memorial Garden Preservation Project
Marcia Beasley is representing the club on the Town Center Project Landscape Committee.
Members get a glimpse of architectural plans for the New Town Center: Library Expansion & Linear Park
Marcia reported that the Town Center will have a Linear Park in front, and the Memorial Garden will be nearly half its current size due to the Library Expansion.
Memorial Garden: Removal and sale of plants on the left side of the garden and across the front will begin Sat 2/16 and continue on Sat 2/23 ... volunteers are needed. Safeguards are planned to protect the labyrinth and the Celtic cross will be moved to a new location. New plans for the Memorial Garden include a sprinkler system that will alleviate our need for a watering schedule + the county will assume the responsibility of mowing it saving us thousands of dollars over the years. In return, the club agreed to maintain the Linear Park in front of the Town Center.
Public Library: The Ground-breaking Ceremony will take place on Thursday, 2/28 at 10:00 AM ... all are welcome to attend. The last day for the old library will be 2/23, but books will be available from their temporary location in the old fire station. Construction is estimated to take 10 months from 3/3/08.

Tour
Cathy Foley announced our next
Secret Garden Tour
Scheduled for October 11, 2008

Volunteers are needed to work the day of the tour and all members are asked to bake a dozen cookies and sell tickets
Environmental Concerns Committee is being split off from the Roadside Beautification Committee ... they will be two separate committees. Co-chairing the Environmental Concerns Committee is Deb Barney & Lynn Bassett. The decision to split this committee came after last month's program on water issues by Don Cox. Serving on the Environmental Concerns Committee are Brian Pasby and Cathi Ayers. A letter to the BOCC to request that a water plan be devised and submitted was composed and read to the club by Deb. A copy will also be sent to other Clubs in the county to ask for their assistance and backing.

Petal Power Award was passed from Lona Bassett to Carole Baker for her super volunteer work on all projects this club year Garden Angel Award was given to Diane Freund for volunteering to chair the Decorations Committee

Opportunity Drawings ... many were even more pleased that they came
